Since 1996, the Plywood Regatta has been challenging students to design, build, and race boats while learning valuable skills related to teamwork, problem solving, marine construction, and innovation.
Why Students Participate
Build A Boat
Students from various levels will craft seaworthy vessels in ONE day, fostering teamwork with simple tools and materials.
Race to win
After building, students personalize their boats and race them the next day in heats to crown the champion.
Scholarship Opportunities
Proceeds support marine education and scholarship programs, fueling the future workforce.

Whether you’re currently in the marine industry or have been involved in some facet of the marine industry during your lifetime, we WANT YOU!
Parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins and siblings- we all have known young people at some stage in our lives, so why not take this opportunity to mentor a Plywood Regatta team for two days?
Help a team of students construct a canal-worthy, ahem, SEAworthy vessel to take them to the top of the Plywood Regatta boat building forefront!
